On-Air Cupcakes...YUM!

To celebrate the completion of our hardest semester yet, people from each class brought in some lovely treats, including these cute cupcakes that are on-air themed with a camera and a microphone. Such a pleasant surprise and a perfect treat to kick off the winter break! Yummmmm :)

Celestial Inspired Colors by ORLY

ORLY nail color in "Fowl Play" $7.50

ORLY nail color in "Ingenue" $7.50

Quo by ORLY in nail colors "Turquoise Moonlight", "Celestial Star", and "Night Sky" $10 each

Quo by ORLY in "Celestial Star" $10

I recently found out about the brand of nail polish called ORLY, and there are a few reasons why it’s now my absolute favorite.

I’m a huge fan of shimmery high-definition nail colors, and ORLY does it better than any other brand right now. I bought “Fowl Play” from the Birds of a Feather Collection, and “Ingenue” from the Holiday Soiree Collection. Both lacquers are so unique and super glimmery-shimmery, which is so perfect for the holiday season.

Proving their growing popularity, ORLY has released a range of nail colors in their recent collaboration with Shoppers Drug Mart makeup brand Quo. The collection is inspired by the starry-night sky, and I just bought a beautiful sapphire blue shade with subtle purple specks called “Celestial Star”.
I love the ORLY brand because they provide the best in irresistible metallic colors, but the most important benefit is that these polishes are free of DBP, toluene, and formaldehyde, all chemicals linked to cancer.

I have my eye on several colors to add to my growing collection of ORLY Nail Lacquers, including “Rococo A Go-Go” a gorgeous shimmering reddish-burgundy from the Mineral FX Collection, and “Night Sky” from the ORLY by Quo cosmic inspired collection. These sexy polishes make for perfect stocking stuffers this Christmas, and you can find holiday gift sets of three at Winner’s and Stylesense stores, right now.

Galaxy Nails

Galaxy Nails are eye-catching and unique, so of course I had to try it out! Here is a step by step tutorial of how I got this look:

Step 1: Start with a base coat. I always use Essie's growth formula, which actually works very well and dries almost instantly.

Step 2: Apply one coat of dark blue polish, I used Essie's Aruba Blue. Remember to let each coat dry before the next is applied.

Step 3: For step 3, you must paint each nail at a time. Once the first layer of blue is completely dry, apply one more thin layer of dark blue. Then use a tiny bit of black polish at the base of your nail, and light shimmery blue polish on the upper part of the nail. Then comes the blending, use a clear top coat that you don't mind using for mixing colors. Paint over the nail using the brush to blend the colors. Apply one final top coat after blending to smooth out the top layer of nail polish.

Step 4: Add a few small rhinestones at the base of your nail where the color is darkest. If you apply gems to the tips of you nails, they tend to fall off quicker, so keep this in mind. You can use shimmery silver nail polish the make it look very sparkly!

A Peek Into My Jewellery Collection...

I took this skeleton arm candle holder from the family halloween decor to use as a jewellery holder, which I thought was quite a clever idea! These are just a few photos of some of my jewellery and accessories. The two rings in the bottom photo are both from Aldo Accessories, and the nail color is "Coral Me Wild" from Revlon. I really love a bright nail color paired with gothic rings, especially since it's almost Halloween!

Sparkle and Shine

I found this beautiful sequin embellished hairband at StyleSense, for only $15! I remember seeing this Canadian designer, OPHELIE Hats, featured in past issues of Flare Magazine and Lou Lou. There is so much work that goes into these wonderfully handcrafted hairpieces, and I will certainly get alot of wear out of this lovely gem!

My Latest Loveys

ASH BOOTS from StyleSense
These are the loveys that will be keeping my toes warm this winter. I'm officially addicted to ASH Boots and I can't wait for my next pair, I'm thinking an ankle length black leather wedge bootie. These sexy leather boots will look perfect with skinny jeans or leggings, with an oversized top or a leather biker jacket and big scarf combination. Love!

Another Model Test Shoot

Here are a few photos of the wardrobe selections from the last model test shoot I styled. I'm absolutely in love with the new collection of stilettos from Aldo that come in gold glitter and and array of rainbow bright colors. There are definitely a few pairs that I plan on adding to my shoe collection! Check out more sexy pumps from Aldo here.

Sippin' on Sunshine

Peter Som Spring 2011                                                  Emilio De La Morena Spring 2011
Christian Dior Spring 2011
What screams summer louder than bright sunshine yellow? I can't think of a better way to ring in this seasons hot weather than with a little trip down the yellow brick road! After a trip to Affordable Textiles on Queen West in Toronto, I put my sewing and pattern-making skills to work and created this gorgeous yellow dress out of cotton jersey, which I paired up with my favorite leopard heels. Bright yellow can be seen all over the spring 2011 runways including Christian Dior, Peter Som, and Emilio De La Morena, to name a few. If you're wondering how to accessorize such a bright colored outfit, try simple nude or add contrast with a touch of baby blue.

Half Moon Nailpolish

JOE Nailpolish in Ballet Slipper, Jet, and Base and Top Coat

FLARE Magazine Spring Manicure and Pedicure Special

The half moon manicure is a fresh take on the classic french manicure. Those of you looking for an easy and new way to wear polish, this is the way to do it! I really like the contrast between light pink and black, it really makes your tips stand out and the colors are subtle enough to match with most outfits. I used JOE nailpolish in Ballet Slipper, Jet, and finished it off with a clear top coat.

To get this look, start off by applying two thin coats of the lighter shade, and wait until completely dry. Then use french manicure stickers to create an even curve at the base of your nail. Paint on one layer of black polish, and wait for it to dry before you peel off the manicure stickers. Finish with a clear top coat, but try to paint the tips of your nails first where the pink color is, and then the base of the nail where the black shade is, to prevent the colors from blending into one another. Et Voila! You have yourself a professional looking manicure that you can recreate over and over at home!

Essie's Aruba Blue Nail Laquer

A great alternative to this season's oh-so-hot pastel nail polish colors, is this deep frosty sapphire blue by Essie. Appropriately named "Aruba Blue", the tone of this polish sparkles in the sun and reminds me of a deep blue sea! Since I'm crazy for nail polish and always on top of the trends, I really wanted to try something different than the usual springtime shades. This color is amazing and looks good on all skin tones, especially on a sun-kissed tan!

Vintage Pearl Choker

I recently found this lovely piece at none other than Value Village! I actually really love the choker style this season, and this would be best worn with hair up and an open neckline to show the gorgeous pearl detailing. At only 99 cents, this certainly was a deal and a half!

Feather Earrings

These chain and feather earrings from Aldo were such a great buy! They're the perfect statement piece to add a bohemian touch to any outfit this summer. With long flowing tresses, the feathers blend in perfectly, and what's also great is that Aldo carries this item in several different colors, so it's easy to comlipment the tone of your own hair! I absolutely adore Aldo!
